Lyon Parc Auto innovates with space-by-space guidance system
With a constant commitment to improving user experience and easing traffic flow in its parking facilities, Lyon Parc Auto (LPA) launched in May 2021 a space-by-space guidance system in several of its locations. This innovative solution, based on connected sensors, provides real-time information on available spots to drivers, thereby reducing the stress of searching for parking and limiting unnecessary movement within the parking lot.
Connected and eco-efficient technology
This system is based on a low-power presence detection technology developed in partnership with Ineo-Sense, an IoT specialist. Each parking space is equipped with a wireless sensor capable of signaling its availability. This data is then centralized via the LoRa network, enabling long-range and reliable communication with directional signs and LPA’s applications. The goal: to offer a solution that is intelligent, sustainable, and easy to deploy—without requiring major infrastructure work.

A concrete response to smart City challenges
By deploying this system, LPA fully embraces the smart city approach promoted by the Lyon Metropolis. Less traffic in parking lots, better flow management, and reduced emissions from engines searching for spots all benefits that contribute to smoother and more environmentally friendly urban mobility. This project perfectly illustrates LPA’s ability to innovate to meet tomorrow’s challenges while concretely improving the daily lives of users.
