Lauak – Optimization of scheduling & on-time delivery (OTD)
To meet the tight deadlines and flexibility requirements of the aerospace sector, the Lauak Group deployed the Ineo-Sense solution, which can locate each manufacturing order in real time and identify processing priorities across its industrial sites worldwide.
Thanks to over 30,000 long-range sensors and a lightweight infrastructure, production priorities are respected, transit times between operations are reduced, and delivery deadlines are met, all while optimizing allocated resources.
When flexibility becomes an industrial necessity
The Lauak Group is a key player in the aerospace industry, specializing in the production of primary parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies.
Aerospace parts manufacturers must produce a wide variety of parts in small batches while adapting to constantly changing order books and delivery deadlines. It is crucial to track the processing priorities of manufacturing orders (MOs) to avoid production bottlenecks and ensure deliveries to major clients comply with on-time delivery (OTD) requirements.
Sensors to orchestrate real-time production
The solution enables the identification of priority manufacturing orders (MOs) in less than 3 seconds over long distances, using a lightweight infrastructure combined with a battery life of 7-8 years, and locates them by zone in real time without wiring. Each MO is equipped with a TRK-Tracer or a TRK-Tracer-Note (a connected display to dynamically show production information) attached to the production crate or directly to the part if there is no container.
MOs are thus tracked at every stage of the manufacturing process across different workshops thanks to TRK-Zon, wireless “zoners.” With no wiring and easy installation, this flexible infrastructure adapts to activity fluctuations since factory layouts and flow arrangements can evolve.
Data collected by the sensors is integrated via middleware into Lauak Group’s MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to manage MO traceability and production scheduling. Priority MOs are identified by operators in the workshops through the activation of LEDs with different color codes depending on the status to be addressed. The LED blinks, I locate the MO, and process it according to the schedule.

Lightweight, durable, wireless: a frictionless deployment
Easy to install, wireless, with long-range coverage from the zoners and extended communication range between gateways and sensors, the Ineo-Sense solution is ideal for constrained industrial environments where large areas must be covered while keeping overall infrastructure costs under control. There are no wiring costs, sensors have a battery life of 8 years, and zoners last 5 years, all while ensuring advanced features and high responsiveness.
Since a factory is constantly evolving according to fluctuations in its activity, a wireless infrastructure easily allows redefining the different zones of the process to cover and quickly adapting to changes.
Finally, thanks to the long communication range, it is not necessary to cover every square meter with zoners, as it is possible, using an LED or sniffing search—to locate an object “out of zone” from several hundred meters away.
Concrete results on the production line
- Adherence to the manufacturing priority processing order, the TAO (order adherence rate), has tripled.
- This eliminated overtime needed to rush production of delayed manufacturing orders (MOs) and optimized delivery times (the well-known OTD, on-time deliveries).
- Transit times between operations were reduced by 20%.
- Indirectly, the solution also led to a reduction in work-in-progress inventory and a significant improvement in working capital requirements (WCR).
- The return on investment (ROI) for this project was achieved in 18 months.
Key figures of the project
- 31,000 location sensors deployed across 4 industrial sites of the Lauak Group worldwide.
- 8 years of battery life for the sensors, with the ability to activate LED blinking multiple times a day in under 3 seconds.
- 300 wireless LoRaWAN zone beacons.
- 500,000 messages exchanged daily at the Hasparren and Ayherre sites near Biarritz, supported by 6 Multitech Conduit LoRaWAN/Clover-Net gateways covering 20,000 m² of workshops.
